It started with a shoebox of photographs no one could name.

My grandmother passed in the spring of 2014. In her closet we found a shoebox — no label, just weight. Inside: 47 photographs, curling at the corners, faded to amber. No names written on the backs. No dates. Just faces we loved and couldn't place.

I spent the next three months turning those photographs into an album. Not a perfect one — the edges were uneven, the adhesive bled through the vellum, and I spelled “Nantucket” wrong in ink I couldn't erase. But every person in that box got a name. Every moment got a page.

Keeper is the blog I wish had existed then — a quiet place where the craft of remembering is taken seriously, and imperfection is the whole point.
